Prof.Dr. İlker KAHRAMANOĞLU

Born in Antalya in 1985, Prof. Dr. İlker KahramanoÄŸlu completed his primary, secondary, and high school education in Antalya. Between 2003 and 2009, he studied at Istanbul University CerrahpaÅŸa Faculty of Medicine. In 2009, he began his residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Istanbul Süleymaniye Maternity and Children’s Training and Research Hospital. During his residency, he worked in the units of Obstetrics (pregnancy follow-up and delivery), Gynecology, Oncology, Endoscopic Surgery, Perinatology (high-risk pregnancy), Infertility, and Menopause.

In 2011, he received hands-on training in laparoscopy at the World Laparoscopy Hospital in India. In 2014, he was awarded the title of Obstetrics and Gynecology Specialist. In the same year, ranking 2nd in Turkey in the Subspecialty Examination in Medicine, he began his subspecialty training in Gynecologic Oncology Surgery at the Department of Gynecologic Oncology, Istanbul University CerrahpaÅŸa Faculty of Medicine.

In 2017, he worked at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York, USA. In 2018, he earned the title of Gynecologic Oncology Surgery Subspecialist and, in the same year, received the “Personal Accredited European Gynecologic Oncologist” certification from the European Society of Gynecological Oncology. He served at Diyarbakır Gazi YaÅŸargil Training and Research Hospital for about one and a half years as part of his compulsory state service.

In 2019, he participated in surgeries and cadaver studies on gynecologic oncologic surgery with Prof. Michael Höckel at Leipzig University in Germany. In the same year, he was a “visiting fellow” at the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart in Rome, Italy. He was awarded the title of Associate Professor in August 2019.

In November 2024, he was promoted to Professor. To date, he has successfully performed surgeries as the lead surgeon for thousands of patients with gynecologic cancers (endometrial cancer, ovarian cancer, cervical cancer, vulvar cancer, etc.), HPV-related diseases, or benign gynecologic tumors (fibroids, endometriosis, ovarian cysts, polyps, etc.), and has published and presented these cases internationally in terms of scientific data and surgical techniques.

Under the umbrella of the European Society of Gynecological Oncology, he has led multiple studies and participated as a surgeon in numerous ongoing international clinical trials. His surgical videos have been selected by the European Society of Gynecological Oncology and other international gynecologic surgery organizations for educational purposes and are broadcast worldwide for physicians. Between 2019 and 2023, he served as an invited committee member for the European Union COST project GYNOCARE, which aims to improve the diagnosis and treatment of rare gynecologic tumors.

He continues to be regularly invited as a speaker and surgeon at national and international congresses. Between 2021 and 2023, he served as a Board Member of the Turkish Gynecologic Oncology Society. Since 2022, he has been a member of the ENYGO Executive Group (EEG) board, which is a subgroup of ESGO.

He has over 70 international publications and more than 1,000 citations (as of 2024). He served as the Turkish translation editor of the internationally recognized reference textbook Gynecologic Oncology. In addition, he has authored 12 book chapters, both internationally and nationally. He closely follows and applies all developments in his field in real time.

Fluent in English, Prof. Dr. İlker Kahramanoğlu teaches medical students in English, providing both basic and advanced knowledge in gynecology and gynecologic oncology. He is married and the father of one child.
