Education and Career

​

I graduated from Istanbul Burhan Felek High School in 1984 and completed my medical education at Hacettepe University Faculty of Medicine in 1991. From 1991 to 1994, I began my specialization in Cardiovascular Surgery at Hacettepe University Faculty of Medicine. Between 1994 and 1997,

 

I continued my specialization training in Cardiovascular Surgery at Istanbul Koşuyolu Cardiovascular Surgery Training and Research Hospital, where I became a cardiovascular surgery specialist.

 

From 1997 to 1998, I worked as a specialist doctor at the same hospital. In 1998, I was appointed as an Assistant Professor at the Cardiovascular Surgery Department of Marmara University Faculty of Medicine. I served as a Medical Officer in the Turkish Armed Forces at Istanbul GATA Haydarpaşa Training and Research Hospital from 1999 to 2000. In 2001, I became an Assistant Professor, and in 2002-2003, I worked as a Clinical Fellow at Kerckhoff Clinic, Department of Cardiovascular Surgery, in Bad Nauheim, Frankfurt, Germany, performing many open heart surgeries.

In 2004, I became an Associate Professor. I performed numerous adult and congenital open heart surgeries and vascular surgeries at both Marmara University and Marmara University Foundation Academic Hospital. Between 2008-2009, I worked at Istanbul Dr. Siyami Ersek Chest, Heart, and Vascular Surgery Hospital as a faculty member from Marmara University, performing many open-heart and vascular surgeries. In August 2009,

 

I was appointed as a Professor at the Cardiovascular Surgery Department of Karadeniz Technical University Faculty of Medicine. During my tenure as Department Head, my team and I achieved several firsts at Karadeniz Technical University Farabi Hospital. After five years, I continued my professional activities at Medicalpark Ordu Hospital, where I performed the region's first minimally invasive coronary and valve surgeries. After working there for three years, I returned to Istanbul. Until 2019, I founded and directed the Cardiovascular Surgery Department at VM Medicalpark Pendik Hospital. I am currently working as the Director of the Cardiovascular Surgery Department at Istanbul Aydın University VM Medicalpark Florya
